These past seven years have been a whirlwind of travel. I have lived in several international capitals including Milan, London and NYC and traveled to over 50 destinations, from the runways of Paris to the souks of Marrakech. My days are often consumed by getting on/off flights, all while hoping to discover new places and in turn write about my experiences. I spend more time in hotels than in my current home and my luggage has become my closet.
At first blush, this might sound like a complaint but actually it is just the opposite. I wake up each day fully aware of how lucky I am to have built a career by following my passion for exploration. Feeedback from my readers has taught me that my trips and experiences have the ability to impact the lives of other women. These are women similar to me, that live a life that heavily involves travel, whether for work or for pleasure. With this in mind I have recently launched the campaign “Traveling While Female” which is inspired and dedicated to the under-represented but growing category of women – that I call Cosmopolitan Nomadic Women. These women travel solo for business and pleasure, not because they are on a quest to find themselves as adherents of the “Eat Pray Love” philosophy but rather because it is intrinsically who they are. They have their own mantra of “Shop Play and Live” and have seamlessly integrated travel into their lifestyle & consumer choices.
This community is alive and vibrant but brands continue to discount that women travel by themselves and they don’t understand why they do it. Women who travel by themselves are empowered to live life on their own terms and in as authentic a way as possible. I will be spending more time cataloguing the particular needs and insights from this community. Covering everything from personal safety, travel advice and shared purpose. So please continue to check in and join us on our journey.
