NYFW hit NYC in early September like clockwork and as usual not many words are needed to describe one of the most important events on the fashion calendar. Check out our favourite SS15 collections.
Delpozo SS15 collection was a parade of bold colours and sharp cuts. Crop tops and blazers, midi-length pencil skirts, wide leg trousers and flower-shaped tops were some of the most outstanding elements of the show.
Monique Lhuillier showcased a dreamy yet sophisticated SS15 collection. The Filipino designer is admired worldwide for her beautiful bridal and evening gowns. She enchanted the show attendees with gorgeous silhouettes and delicate elegance. Pastel pink, blue, yellow and green over shimmering and sequined precious fabrics added a carefree and spring-like touch to the designs.
Oscar de la Renta took us to a world filled with romance and elegance. Jumbo broderie anglaise, checked gingham jackets, floral embroideries and cropped tops were just a few of the prevalent features of this youthful SS15 collection. The opulent fabrics, craftsmanship and attention to detail are second to none for the 82-year-old designer.
Mara Hoffman never fails to impress with her signature features such as bright colours and extravagant prints. The SS15 collection exists in the playful space between comfort, versatility and a hippie mood. Wide-leg cotton trousers, sharp buttoned collars and tropical-printed maxi dresses were among my favourite looks.
The Lebanese designer Reem Acra presented lavish evening gowns complete with creamy colours, and sparkling fabrics. Models strutted down the runway with long and short asymmetrical chiffon dresses, sensual cut-outs on silky dresses and floral printed looks. I have no doubt we’ll see many of these pieces gracing red carpets around the world.
Victoria Beckham presented a minimal, wearable and beautifully tailored SS15 collection. The runway was filled with safari-inspired mini dresses and jackets, black and white striped daily looks and bright pink floral designs. The notorious reputation of the brand carried the day, as this was a highlight of the week. Despite the collection’s feminine and elegant lines, they were a bit more oriented on daily wear than usual.
