There is nothing better than fighting the summer heat with a cool wave of swim trends. From the 18th to the 22nd of July the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim event presented the hottest 2014 collections at the Raleigh Hotel at Cabana Grande, Miami Beach. This season the latest swim trends have a very wild side: animal and tropical prints, bold colours and hot cuts. Welcome to the jungle!

The Colombian duo Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinestroza showed a strong and eclectic collection for their swimwear line Agua Bendita. Flirty and fun looks with a boho vibe were complimented by a military-esque meets safari theme. The result was a mix of leather and ready-to-travel pieces.

Beach Bunny presented an upbeat show with athletic swim looks that took on a sexy and edgy tone. Bold colors, animal prints, cheeky string elements and metal buckles created a strong and  versatile collection.

Spanish designer Dolores Cortes was the only European to showcase at MBFW. Her collection was a funky jungle and glam rock combo. The perfect balance between these two themes occurred in her monikinis and bikinis thanks to colourful foliage tropical prints, 3D floral accents, spiked gold and studded details.

Mara Hoffman Swim collection was inspired by the mythology and mysticism of India, shown through vivid colors and prints. Models, with a third eye painted on their foreheads, walked runways and elephants were a reoccurring theme depicted in several looks, from bikinis to cover-ups. The entire show was a head to toe trip to India complete with kaleidoscopic bird prints, psychedelic graphics inspired by spiritual figures.

Beach Riot showcased for the first year at MBFW with a collection that was a mix of surfer girl and California chic. Colorful stripes, large jewel printed crosses, frilly tops and mesh details were some of the features of this show.

Colombian swimwear label Maaji debuted at MBFW this season with a whimsical mix of boho and pirate inspired suits and lingerie. Flamingo, tucanos and floral prints dominated the stage in a variety lingerie and swimwear looks that opened up their show.
